The New Zealand high commission in Delhi along with the high commissions of Australia Fiji and Papua New Guinea celebrated Namaste Pacific , an event to showcase food and beverages, music, dance and culture from the Pacific region for the first time in Delhi last Friday.“Strategic and economic links between India and the countries in the Pacific region are becoming increasingly important. “An event like Namaste Pacific brought to people in Delhi food from the Pacific region including the fresh yellow fin tuna and prawns from PNG; Australian lamb and food cooked in the traditional earth oven, fine wines and music and dance. It also helps boost the growing tourism links with the region,” she added.Australian high commissioner, Harinder Sidhu, also highlighted the importance of people to people links between India and the countries in the Pacific region which received a boost through an event like Namaste Pacific. “An event to celebrate food and flavours from the region and the music and dance have a big appeal in India and highlight the growing strategic links between the two regions. Such fun events are important and in synch with growing trade and strategic ties.”
