Business News of Monday, 5 September 2016Source: citifmonline.comPURC unhappy with strikes over ECG privatisationFile photoThe Public Utility Regulatory Commission (PURC) has expressed its displeasure with recent strikes by workers of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG). The ECG workers have been striking in protest of the planned concession of management of the company to a private entity, describing the recent happenings within the company as worrying. The Director of Public Affairs and External Relations, Nana Yaa Jantuah spoke to Citi News and implored the ECG workers to put their customers first. PUWU has argued that the strikes are in protest of what it described as a disrespectful attitude exhibited towards them by the Millennium Development Authority (MIDA). But the ECG staff are still attending to critical areas like hospital theaters as well as security installations.
