Tunde AjajaA Saturday PUNCH reporter, Kunle Falayi, was among nine other African journalists honoured at the 2017 Zimeo Excellence in Media Awards held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on Monday. Three other journalists across the PUNCH titles – Femi Asu, Toluwani Eniola and Tunde Ajaja – also got nominations at the continental awards organised by the African Media Initiative. Taiwo Adebulu of The Cable went home with the award for reporting on the Sustainable Development Goals, while Destiny Onyemihia of Voice of Nigeria got the award for reporting on the Maritime Economy. AIM says the awards recognised and celebrated outstanding works in journalism in Africa that focus on development themes. The awards were made possible through the support Al Jazeera, the African Wildlife Foundation and Ford Foundation’s Eastern Africa office.
