The former city mayor maintained that his party would legislate to give women 40 per cent of representation in the political arena. He further said that women would be provided with micro-financing loans to set up small businesses, adding that free transport would also be provided to them. Calling women an ‘institution within’, he said that it was this segment of the population that bears most of the consequences of what happens in society. “Now history will remember that women lit the torch [for prosperity] in the dark age of Karachi”. Meanwhile, Kamal termed Sindhis the ‘Ansar’ of this era, welcoming the migrants from India to their home after Partition.
