PSC pact with US academy to boost grassroots sports


EFFORTS to strengthen the country’s national grassroots sports development program just got another big lift as the United States Sports Academy recently signed an agreement with the Philippine Sports Commission. The agreement was signed in Davao City, with the Academy set to work with government agencies and other organizations, endorsed by the PSC. The sports chief discussed PSC’s recent deal after signing an agreement with Academy President and Chief Executive Officer Dr. T.J. Rosandich. The Filipino gold medalists, who made the country proud in the international event for young fighters aged 17 years old below, are Lian Benito (girls’ 16-17 years old, 48kgs), Mariah Trenyce Co (girls’ 14-15 years old, 48kgs), Rudzma Abubakar (girls’ 16-17 years old, 48kgs), Islay Erika Bomogao (girls’ 16-17 years old, 45kgs), Ghen-Yan Berdon (girls’ 15-16 years old, 48kgs) and Bryan Siglos (boys’ 16-17 years old, 63.5 kgs). Kristian Narca bagged the silver in the boys’ 16-17 years old, 48kgs category, while Rosemarie Recto (girls’ 16-17 years old, 48kgs) and Felix Cantores (boys’ 16-17 years old, 60kgs) won bronze medals.
