PPA sets anchorage areas for ports in Surigao – The Manila Times


The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) has designated the anchorage grounds of the government and private ports for improved monitoring of marine operations in Surigao. PPA General Manager Jay Daniel Santiago has signed the PPA Memorandum Circular (MC) 04-2021, which assigned the anchorage grounds for ports under the jurisdiction of Port Management Office (PMO) Surigao to ensure the smooth and safe flow of vessel traffic within their respective area of operations. In the area where there is only one common anchorage ground shared by adjacent mining companies, a first come first served basis will be applied. PPA identified the pilot boarding station, quarantine anchorage, outer anchorage for vessels above 3,000 GRT, and inner anchorage for vessels 3,000 gross register tonnage (GRT) and below, as well as tankers or vessels loaded with dangerous cargoes dropping point, and anchorage area for sheltering vessels. For private ports, Philnico in Nonoc Surigao City; Hinatuan Mining Corp. in Tagana-an, Surigao del Norte; Taganito Mining Corp. and THPAL in Claver, Surigao del Norte; Adnama Mining Resources Inc., in Claver Surigao del Norte; Platinum Group Metal Corp., in Claver Surigao del Norte; Cagdianao Mining Corp., in Cagdianao, Province of Dinagat Islands; Private ports in Loreto Area in Loreto, Province of Dinagat Islands; Private ports in Tubajon area in Tubajon, Province of Dinagat Islands; Private ports in Basilisa area in Basilisa Province of Dinagat Islands and Private ports in Carrascal Bay Area.
