PHILIPPINE Olympic Committee (POC) President Abraham Tolentino confirmed that an informal committee caucus reached a consensus, capping 78 years as the age limit for eligible candidates in this year’s executive board election, including the post of president. “Yes, during our recent caucus,” Tolentino told The Manila Times on Thursday night, adding that the POC officials will formalize the age cap and other constitutional amendments in their next board meeting. Earlier, the board reached an impasse when the proposal to cap the age at 70 met with resistance from the septuagenarian members. Another proposed amendment that finally gained traction, in principle, was the restriction on POC officials from holding more than one position in a national sports organization (NSA) at any given time. Meanwhile, the national Olympic body is set to hold its first general assembly (GA) via a video-conferencing app, according to Robert Manaquil, POC board member and Billiards Sports Confederation of the Philippines secretary general.
