MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) turned over more than P220-million worth of donations to the National Treasury to augment funding of social amelioration program, which is the government’s emergency cash subsidy to poor households affected by the COVID-19 crisis. The donation drive exceeded its initial target of P200 million. “I must thank each and every member of the PNP for taking part is probably the largest fund drive in PNP history,” he said. The PNP donation drive, which began on April 12, tasked police personnel to give any amount of cash. Gamboa assured his police officers that the donation will not lead to a reduction of salary.
