PNP puts Eastern Samar under full alertBy The Manila TimesTHE Philippine National Police (PNP) placed Eastern Samar under full alert after it was struck with a magnitude 6.5 earthquake on Tuesday. Gen. Dionardo Carlos, Eastern Visayas regional director, to activate the Disaster Incident Management Task Group immediately. Police in Eastern Visayas were also tasked to help its Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, local government units, and government agencies and civilian rescue groups. The Eastern Samar earthquake occurred less than 24 hours after Luzon was struck with a magnitude 6.1 earthquake. Based on the latest report of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, 16 individuals died from Monday’s quake, with its epicenter in Castillejos, Zambales.
