MANILA, Philippines — The number of Philippine National Police (PNP) personnel infected with the coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19 has breached 1,000. PNP spokesman Brig. Banac said eight of the latest patients, three of them police officials, are assigned in Metro Manila. Banac had earlier expressed concern over the increase in the number of confirmed cases after Metro Manila and most parts of the country were placed on a more relaxed community quarantine. The PNP has put in place measures to protect its personnel from the virus,such as limiting face-to-face transactions with civilians.
