MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) activated on Wednesday its search and rescue teams and “other law and order teams” to augment the Central Luzon police, following the recent magnitude 6.1 earthquake. In a memorandum signed by PNP Director for Operations Major General Mao Aplasca, officers from the National Capital Region Police Office, Ilocos Region, Special Action Force, Maritime Group, and Crime Laboratory were ordered to prepare for search and rescue operations in Porac, Pampanga.
