PMI little-changed at 47.1 in Nov

KUALA LUMPUR: New orders in Malaysia declined in Nov, but manufacturers are encouraged by an expansion in the workforce. This was observed by the headline Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI), which posted at 47.1 in Nov. On the price front, input prices rose at the joint-quickest rate since the survey began in July 2012, leading goods producers to increase their charges. The Nikkei PMI is a composite single-figure indicator of manufacturing performance, derived from indicators for new orders, output, employment, suppliers’ delivery times and stocks of purchases. Reductions in production, new orders and stocks of purchases, and improved delivery times all contributed to the sub-50.0 headline PMI reading.
