Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Tuesday reiterated Bangladesh’s call to the United Nations (UN) and the international community to take immediate and effective measures for a permanent solution to the protracted Rohingya crisis. The prime minister also reaffirmed Bangladesh’s strong and unwavering commitment to the principles and objectives of UN. She said Bangladesh’s engagement with the United Nations is guided by the vision of father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The prime minister said Bangladesh is proud to be a major partner of the UN in its endeavour to maintain international peace and security. “We are happy to see that this year United Nations has finally succeeded to adopt a Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons,” she said.
