Sir Ron Brierley is bailed to his Sydney mansion while he is charged with possession of child exploitation material. Sydney Morning Herald Calls for Sir Ron Brierley to be stripped of his knighthood have been made following his guilty plea to charges of child sexual abuse material possession. Brierley is an old boy of Wellington College and has been a benefactor to the school, which has the Brierley Theatre and Sir Ron Brierley Turf. “Wellington College began removing all signage referring to Sir Ron Brierley from the school following confirmation of his guilty plea,” Wellington College Board Chairperson, Paul Retimanu​ said. Former Wellington city councillor and New Zealand cricketer John Morrison criticised Cricket Wellington for “dumping” Brierley before legal proceedings had concluded.
