Mr. Modi also made an aerial survey of rain-affected areas during his short visit to the State capital. I assure the State government of all possible support,” Mr. Modi said before commencing his speech at the platinum jubilee celebrations of Tamil daily Dina Thanthi here. The Prime Minister discussed the rain-related situation in the State with Governor Banwarilal Purohit, Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami, Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam, Union Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Union Minister of State Pon. After the Prime Minister left for Delhi, Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami told reporters that central assistance has been sought for rain-related relief operations in Chennai, Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur, Nagapattinam and Tiruvarur districts and the Prime Minister positively responded to the request.
