PM asks to reduce tariff on four products including riceDHAKA, Jan 29, 2024 (BSS) - Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has given directives to authorities concerned to reduce tariff on four essential items- rice, edible oil, sugar and date. Later, Cabinet Secretary Md Mahbub Hossain in a press conference disclosed the decisions taken in the meeting. Ahead of the Holy month of Ramadan, the premier gave directives to the National Board of Revenue (NBR) to reduce tariff on the four essentials commodities, he said adding now the NBR will decide how much tariff will be reduced. Later the tenure of the law was extended for several times and the current tenure will expire on April 9 next. The Cabinet has taken decision in principle to give the act a permanent shape, he said.
