Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said that measures including demonetisation, GST rollout and emphasis on Aadhaar, taken by his government were effective steps against corruption. Speaking at the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit in New Delhi, PM Modi said that he was ready to pay a "political price" for combating graft in the country. He said, "I might have to pay a political price for the path I have taken (against corruption), but I am ready for it." PM Modi also said that demonetisation brought large parts of the underground economy into the formal system. Demonetisation brought in proof of black money, finished parallel economy, Modi said, adding, "Post demonetisation, there is a behavioural change among citizens."
