A day before the opposition protests against demonetization in the Parliament premises, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reassured a group of Shiv Sena MPs on Tuesday that Centre is taking all measures to ease the hardships of the people. Led by Sena's leader in Lok Sabha Anandrao Adsul, 14 MPs of the party called on the PM to discuss the consequences of demonetization faced by the common man. According to Sena MPs present in the meeting, the PM acknowledged the hardships of the people who are facing a cash crunch but said that it would not continue for a long time. While talking to Sena MPs, the PM also invoked late Sena supremo Bal Thackeray and the long-standing association between the two parties to reassure them in the wake of Sena leaders joining hands with the opposition in the march against demonetization last week. Since the rural economy is dependent on district co-operative banks and as nationalised banks are few in numbers, we urged the PM to bring co-operative banks in the demonetization drive," said Sanjay Raut.
