Prime Minister Narendra Modi said he spoke with U.S. President-elect Joe Biden on Tuesday evening (India time). — Narendra Modi (@narendramodi) November 17, 2020In a statement,the MEA said that Mr. Modi described Mr.Biden's election was "a testament to the strength and resilience of democratic traditions in the United States." Mr Biden a had phone calls with the leaders of Israel, Chile and South Africa on Tuesday, as per a statement from his presidential transition team. Mr. Modi had already sent a congratulatory message via Twitter to Mr. Biden last week on his “spectacular victory” in the U.S. elections which concluded on November 3. A number of other leaders in the Indo-Pacific region and from Europe had spoken to Mr. Biden this week as per his presidential transition team.
