PM Imran to launch Clean Green Pakistan Index on Wednesday

Adviser to the Prime Minister on Climate Change Malik Amin Aslam has announced that Prime Minister Imran Khan will launch Clean Green Pakistan Index (CGPI) on Wednesday. According to Aslam, the project would encourage competition among cities on various indicators, including public access to drinking water, safe sanitation, effective solid waste management and tree plantation. In a media talk held on Sunday, Aslam said the prime minister would launch the Clean Green Pakistan Index, adding that key representatives of provincial governments, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir, federal and provincial ministers, senior officials, ambassadors of various countries, university teachers and students and senior representatives of local and international non-governmental organizations would attend the ceremony. After six months, more cities will be added in the competition as the second phase of the program, he added. The adviser said the CGPI had been rolled out under the PM’s Clean and Green Pakistan initiative to ensure environmental conservation and sustainability.
