Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, currently in the US in connection with the 72nd UN General Assembly session, has undergone a successful gallbladder operation in Washington. “She underwent a successful gallbladder surgery at a Washington hospital at 8pm on September 25 (Bangladesh time 6am on September 26),” her Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim told BSS over phone from the US capital on Wednesday. Karim said the prime minister was taken to the hospital after she suddenly felt pain in abdomen. The prime minister was released from the hospital a day after the surgery and she returned to her place of residence in Washington. The prime minister arrived in New York on September 17 to join the UN’s annual event.
