File photo of Ekushey Padak CourtesyTwenty-one eminent personalities will be awarded the Ekushey Padak for 2019Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will present the prestigious Ekushey Padak to recipients at a ceremony on Wednesday afternoon. She will hand over the awards at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre at 3:30pm. The government announced the names of 21 eminent personalities for the Ekushey Padak of 2019, for their outstanding contributions to their respective fields. The Ekushey Award is the second-highest civilian award in the country, introduced in memory of the martyrs of the Bengali Language Movement of 1952. The award recognizes contributions to a number of fields, including culture, education, and economics.
