PM: Government working towards 7% ethnic Indian target in public universities - Nation


PUTRAJAYA: The number of Indian students in public institutions has yet to hit the 7% target and the Government will find ways to achieve that number, says Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak. "The Government is studying how it could increase fields of study or increase places at public universities or in matriculation schools. The Government had set a target of Indian students making up 7% of intake at public universities within the next 10 years. Najib pointed out education and having a close-knit community was vital to tackle the problems affecting the Indian community. Formed in 2009, the myNadi Foundation aims to help underprivileged communities in areas of education, welfare and socio-economic development.
