PM: 1st phase of Egyptian-Saudi electricity interconnection project to be done by next May


CAIRO – 17 October 2024: Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly emphasized the Egyptian government's commitment to completing the first phase of the Egyptian-Saudi electricity interconnection project on schedule by next May, with a capacity of 1,500 megawatts. Following the completion of this phase, work will commence on the second phase, which will also have a capacity of 1,500 megawatts. Madbouly convened a meeting on Thursday to review the status of the Egyptian-Saudi electricity interconnection project. Mona Rizk, Chairperson of the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company; Eng. Yasser Naguib, Head of the Energy and Water Solutions Sector at Orascom Construction; Adham Kamel, Project Manager at Prysmian Power Link; and several officials from relevant authorities.
