PLDT Inc. announced on Wednesday that it would install more fiber lines and ports in the next six months as the coronavirus pandemic fueled demand for internet connectivity. According to the listed telecommunications giant, it has been investing heavily in its network buildup, covering the ongoing modernization programs for its overseas cable systems and domestic fiber transport network. Its fiber optic network grew by 19 percent to 382,500 kilometers from its end-2019 figure. For this year, PLDT set its capital expenditures at P70 billion. PLDT shares increased by P41 or 3.13 percent to close at P1,352 each on Wednesday.
