Dominant telco players inked deals to upgrade e-learning in the Philippines as the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic forces the education sector to implement distance schooling. The Pangilinan-led PLDT said in a statement over the weekend it has teamed up with STI for the latter’s new learning model. Under the deal, PLDT Enterprise will provide a Smart GIGA Study data plan to over 80,000 students of STI across the country. Globe Telecom, on the other hand, said on Monday it sealed a partnership with Google for Education to boost digital learning in the country. We believe we can do the same for the education sector through blended or fully online learning.
