Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) plans to operate international flights and increase the frequency of domestic flights to and from Gwadar upon competition of the Gwadar International Airport. The CEO assured the businessmen that the national airline would look into the feasibility of their requests. Presently, due to the lack of proper refueling facilities and shorter runway, the Karachi airport is used as a replacement for Gwadar. He added that PIA has addressed all formalities and is awaiting approval. RCCI President Muhammad Nassir Mirza assured the PIA CEO of their support in travel as well as cargo business, while the Malik has directed PIA officials to devise a business package for the chamber members.
