Goodness gracious, why not impose a complete ban on the deployment of Filipino workers to Kuwait? Since 2016, a total of 196 overseas Filipino workers had died in Kuwait, according to the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA). Now, isn’t that enough reason to impose a complete ban against the deployment of workers, especially domestics, to Kuwait? It seems that we have become the Africa of the 1700s and 1800s — a source of the slave trade. For many years, I’ve seen all forms of maltreatment suffered by Filipino domestic workers working overseas.
