A South Korean who made Manila a place for his “business” for several years was discovered to be a fugitive in his country. Officials of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) intercepted An Byeonghyeon, 27, last Friday, who is wanted for illegal gambling in South Korea. Grifton Medina, BI port operations division chief, said An was catching his flight to Seoul, when BI officers noticed that he was on the Interpol’s list of wanted fugitives. Medina added that an information obtained from the BI Interpol unit revealed that An conspired with other Korean suspects in operating an illegal online gaming website called “Syrub, Milk, Butter, Sugar” from 2017 up to March this year. He was charged with violating South Korea’s national sports promotion act and could be sentenced to a maximum jail term of 10 years if convicted.
