PH bets win gold in Asian Schools ChessPromising woodpushers Stephen Rome Pangilinan, Allaney Jia Doroy and Daren Dela Cruz copped gold medals in their respective age groups in the 12th Asian Schools Chess Championships held in Tehran, Iran. Pangilinan collected 7.5 points on six wins and three draws in nine rounds to bag the boys’ Under-15 gold medal. Doroy, on the other hand, dominated the girls’ Under-17 after claiming eight points on eight wins and one loss. After nine rounds, Dela Cruz was actually tied with Mongolian Erdenebat Enkh­jin with 7.5 points in the girls Under-9. Mecel Angela Gadut chip­ped in one silver medal in the girls’ Under-7 category.
