The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has declared candidate of the main opposition party, PDP, Istifanus Gyang, as the winner of the Plateau North senatorial election. The declaration which came five days after the presidential and National Assembly elections was done amidst tension and tight security in Jos. Also announced is that of the Jos North/Bassa Federal Constituency which the Returning Officer, Professor Francis Kwese, declared inconclusive because Tudun Wada/Kabong ward results were cancelled.For the Senator-elect, Istifanus Gyang, peace and unity is his top priority. For now, the electorate in Jos North/Bassa Federal Constituency is waiting anxiously for the rerun election.
