Donation of the PCR machineHemas Holdings PLC, at the request of the Sri Lanka Cardiologists’ Association, yesterday (22) donated a real-time PCR machine to the National Hospital of Sri Lanka (NHSL) in Colombo. “The NHSL did not have the necessary machines to carry out the PCR sample testing and with this donated instrument, PCR tests will also be carried out at the hospital in the future. Accordingly, patients who are on the waiting list for daily surgeries will be able to undergo PCR tests expeditiously,” NHSL Deputy Director Dr. W. Kumara Wickramasinghe told The Morning. 5 million was donated to the NHSL at the Ministry of Health premises, where Minister of Health Pavithra Wanniarachchi had appreciated the gesture of goodwill of Hemas Group. Director General of Health Services Dr. Asela Gunawardena, NHSL Deputy Director Dr. W. Kumara Wickramasinghe, former Sri Lanka Heart Association President Dr. Stanley Amarasekara, and a group of cardiologists from the Colombo National Hospital too were present at the occasion.
