PARTLY FALSE: This image isn’t of a January 2024 Yemeni missile strike on ships in the Red SeaThe image is of an oil tanker attacked in the Gulf of Oman in June 2019. The Afaan Oromo text accompanying the photo translates to; “Breaking News: Currently, the Yemeni Navy has fired missiles at ships heading in the direction of Israel in the Red Sea. The Yemenis continue to strengthen their support for Gaza.”However, Google reverse image search results established that the image is not of a January 2024 Yemeni missile strike on a ship. Reports indicate that the Houthi militants launched a drone and missile assault against ships in the Red Sea. PesaCheck has examined a post on Facebook with an image, purportedly of a ship attacked by the Yemeni Houthi militants in January 2024, and found it to be PARTLY FALSE.
