PAO chief Persida Rueda-AcostaTHE Public Attorney's Office (PAO) is readying new criminal charges against former Health secretary and now Iloilo Rep. Janette Garin and administrative complaints against incumbent Health Secretary Francisco Duque 3rd in connection with the deaths of over a hundred school children who were injected with Dengvaxia vaccines. PAO chief Persida Rueda-Acosta and PAO Forensics Division chief Dr. Erwin Erfe said they are preparing seven criminal complaints against Garin and others that will be filed before the Department of Justice (DoJ) for the recent deaths of the victims that were subjected to forensic examinations. Garin and other respondents are facing charges of reckless imprudence resulting in multiple homicide, violation of the Anti-Torture Law (Republic Act 9745), violation of the Consumer Act of the Philippines (RA 7394) and violation of the Philippine Pharmacy Act (RA 10918). The DoH, through the PCMC, spent P3 billion for the mass vaccination of schoolchildren against dengue. Garin was the Health secretary in 2017 when the DoH rolled out its vaccination campaign.
