Hollywood, California: Public Attorney’s Office (PAO) chief Persida Acosta was elevated to the Hall of Fame by the 18th Annual Gawad Amerika Awards at the Center in Burbank Boulevard, North Hollywood, California. The Gawad Amerika recognized Acosta, also a Manila Times columnist, for her bravery in fighting and defending the rights of Filipinos worldwide. Her outstanding accomplishments as a public defender include the investigation conducted by PAO on the anti-dengue Dengvaxia vaccine on behalf of the victims. Acosta thanked Simbulan and the 2019 Gawad Amerika Committee for giving her the highest honors. Itong karangalan na ito ay aking natamo dahil sa inyong walang sawang pagsuporta at paniniwala sa aking kakayahan (I thank [Simbulan and the 2019 Gawad Amerika Committee] for recognizing my public service.
