Sherman shared the PALCUS award with his wife Kim Sawyer, who founded and led Connect to Success (C2S). “This award underscores the importance of fostering education opportunities and celebrating the rich heritage and contributions of the Portuguese-American community,” she said in a video message. Her tri-lingual practice delivers culturally competent care to the Portuguese community. The gala also served to present the first Heritage Portugal Program cohort, with eight of the 12 members in attendance. PALCUS is the only national organization advocating for the Portuguese-American community.
