PAGASA: LPA to form within 48 hoursA new low pressure area (LPA) is seen to form east of the country within 48 hours, which may bring light to moderate rains over the eastern section of Visayas and Mindanao by mid-week, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA). She said PAGASA is not discounting the possibility that the LPA will intensify into a tropical cyclone. PAGASA weather forecaster Shelly Ignacio said the cloud cluster is still outside the Philippine area of responsibility or east of Mindanao on Tuesday afternoon. Once it becomes an LPA, Ignacio said the weather disturbance may bring cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and thunderstorms over the eastern part of Visayas and Mindanao by Wednesday or Thursday.
