State Minister Dr. Sudarshani Fernandopulle said today that Oxford astrazeneca COVID vaccine would be suitable for Sri Lanka than Pfizer. Speaking to journalists after visiting the Bandaranaike International Airport, Katunayake, the State Minister of Primary Health Services, Pandemics and COVID Prevention said the vaccine by Pfizer needs to be stored and transported at a temperature of minus -70 degrees Celsius. “For a country with high temperatures like ours, Pfizer may not be suitable. The most suitable vaccine will be Oxford astrazeneca as it can be kept in the refrigerator for six months,” she said. When asked whether the government has enough funds to bring down a vaccine, the State Minister said, “We do have funds.
