The Times Higher Education World University Rankings, widely regarded as one of the most authoritative indicators of academic excellence, have named the University of Oxford as its top choice in two subject rankings. Oxford was named the best university in the world for both medicine and computer science, its 15th consecutive title for medicine and eighth consecutive for computer science. As well as being ranked highly in its subject scores, Oxford University has also be world number one in the overall Times Higher Education World University Rankings since 2017, the longest time any university has held the position in the 21 annual editions of the rankings. After Oxford, the University of Cambridge ranked second in Computer Science, while ETH Zurich in Switzerland came in third. In September last year, it was announced that Oxford University was named the Medical School of the Year in The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2026.
