Oxfam has only four dedicated safeguarding staff while employing more than 20 press officers, amid concerns that charities have not devoted enough resources to protecting employees. The charity is understood to have spent no more than £250,000 a year on safeguarding while devoting significant resources to its 23-strong media team. At least 75 other staff get safeguarding training. Oxfam plans to increase funding on welfare issues, and hire at least two more full-time staff.
