The event was organised with the objective of creating awareness among the masses of organ donation. “There has been a growing awareness of blood donation, and we want to make organ donation a movement on the lines of blood donation,” said D. Senguttuvan, Executive Director of the Hospital. “There has been a growing demand for liver, heart, lungs, pancreas, intestine and thymus, tissues which can be transplanted.”While 300 persons — all athletes participated in 21 km marathon that started at 5.20 a.m.; 2,000 persons participated in 10-km marathon that commenced at 5.50 a.m. while a massive strength of 7,500 entries were registered for 5 km marathon which was flagged off at 7 a.m. The following is the list of 18 winners who got the first, second and third prize in each category21 km: Men E. Suruli, Rajin Lal R.Roja Rajan. 10 km Men: B.Karthik, S.G.Dhavan, Lijin Saji; Women R.Jyothi, R.Suji, M. Sadhana,5 km Men A. Barath, S. Vinoth and S. Ramanathan ; Women: A. Esasri, S. Manjula, A. Priya.
