Huntley School student Lydia Lam has excelled in her first year in New Zealand. BRIGHT YOUNG THINGS: Being stranded overseas away from home due to Covid-19 hasn’t affected a Rangitīkei pupil’s work in the classroom. Year 7 Huntley School pupil Lydia Lam, 12, came to New Zealand from Hong Kong for her schooling this year and hasn’t been able to return home due to Covid-19. New Zealand hadn’t been what she expected and she had been homesick sometimes, with her parents in Hong Kong, but she said she loved it at Huntley. Outside class, Lydia plays netball, something she hadn’t tried before she came to Huntley, and tennis.
