Interior Secretary Eduardo Año said 904 individuals were arrested from May 6 to May 10 for not wearing their masks properly. From May 6 to May 9, according to Año, 18,862 violations in relation to the wearing of masks were recorded. “In the past days, there have been 18,862 violations recorded, 904 were arrested, 9,379 were warned, 8,027 were fined, 491 were ordered to do community service and 61 underwent inquest proceedings,” he said. “We will continue to enforce your order to arrest those who are not following the rule on the [proper] wearing of masks,” Año told the President. Meanwhile, he said there were 5,473 recorded violations of the social distancing rule since May 6.
