Over 75% of Brits say they DON’T trust social media, shocking study reveals

The survey by Edelman , which included data from more than 33,000 respondents, revealed that social media is now trusted by just 24 per cent of the UK population. Seventy per cent of respondents said they believe social media companies aren’t doing enough to prevent illegal or unethical behaviours on their platforms. While several social media companies have promised to make the world more open and connected, this hasn’t rung true for many users. Over a third of Britons believe that social media is bad for society, and over half believe that companies take advantage of people’s loneliness. The reputation of social media companies has also been hit by the problem of fake news.
