LUCENA CITY––A total of 511,416 residents in Quezon province have been vaccinated as of Sunday against COVID-19, the provincial public information office (PIO), reported citing the latest data from the Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO). ADVERTISEMENTAll Quezon municipalities have been conducting vaccination rollouts to help prevent the spread of SARS-Cov2, the virus that causes COVID-19. Quezon, which remains under general community quarantine with heightened restrictions, has been seeing an alarming surge in COVID-19 cases amid the ongoing threat of the highly transmissible Delta variant. From Oct. 1 to 3, the IPHO recorded 397 new COVID-19 cases, or an average of 132 a day. Last month, Quezon recorded the highest monthly tallies in new cases and fatalities since the pandemic started in 2020.
