Over 11 Thousand Detained, Reports Ethiopian Emergency BoardNovember 11, 2016 - The Board formed to follow the implementation of Ethiopia’s State of Emergency has announced that 11, 607 suspects have been detained for participating in a recent wave of violence that has occurred in some part of the country. Meanwhile, 2,114 suspects from the vicinity of Gedio are detained at Dila and Yirgalem Centers, 532 suspects from North Gonder, South Gonder, and Eastern Gojam at Bahir Dar while 410 suspects from Addis Ababa are detained at Addis Ababa Center, he said. He also said outlined that looting and burning public and private properties as offences responsible for the suspects to be detained. The chairman also emphasized that other suspects are detained for instigating offence against security forces and civilians and even killing them using bombs and fire arms. The other factors mentioned by the Board Chairman as a serious reason the suspects to be detained is tearing and burning the national flag.
