Sir David was to become a successful businessman running Levene's, which he took over managing in 1952. Through the David Levene Foundation, several community organisations benefited from his philanthropy, including Outward Bound. Sir David was awarded an OBE in 1995 and a knighthood in 2010 for services to business and the community.
