Outstanding Clifford drives Kerry to their fourth in a row

Jack O’Shea may have been on the money after all. During his induction into the GAA Hall of Fame last month, Kerry’s seven-time All-Ireland winner said David Clifford, of the Kerry minors, was “the best I’ve ever seen at his age”. O’Shea said that Clifford was ready for senior football, which some commentators — including Colm Cooper — found unusual, but the full-forward played like a man among boys at Croke Park yesterday, scoring 4-4 from play. Clifford had a goal after ten seconds and 2-3 to his credit by half-time, he effectively sealed Kerry’s 15th All-Ireland minor success long before full-time. Kerry’s victory marked the first time any minor team has won four successive championships.
