Congressional reaction to President Trump's orders banning refugees and immigrants from some Muslim countries from entering the country was swift and overwhelmingly critical among Democrats, while Republican leaders remained largely silent or accepting. House Speaker Paul D. Ryan (R-Wis.), who had opposed Trump's proposed Muslim ban in 2016, accepted the president's move. "President Trump is right to make sure we are doing everything possible to know exactly who is entering our country," Ryan said in a statement. Other Republicans made comments and tweets marking Holocaust Remembrance Day, while saying nothing of Trump's actions on the same day. It’s an entirely different matter to say that because someone comes from a particular country or is a member of a particular faith that he or she has no access to this country," she said.
