BENTONG: An African prisoner, on death row for a drug offence, bit off part of a prison warden’s left ear in a vicious attack at the Bentong prison complex here on Wednesday. The suspect then pinned the victim on the floor before biting off the officer’s left ear, leaving the man bloodied. Four other prison officers managed to overpower the inmate before taking him to another block where the isolation cells were located. It is learnt that the victim had shown the suspect a letter containing the order for him to be relocated to the isolation cell. Before arriving in Bentong prison in 2016, the suspect had served time at several prisons including Kajang and Sungai Buloh in Selangor, Tapah and Simpang Renggam in Perak, and Marang, Terengganu.
